Six countries to battle for the fifth World Team Trophy: Entries and schedule

The fifth edition of the ISU World Team Trophy will take place April 20-23, 2017, in Tokyo, Japan. Six teams have qualified for the event based on ISU world standings, led by Canada, who just came off a strong World Championships with three medals. Each team will consist of two men, two women, one pair, and one ice dance team.

Points for country team standings are awarded based on standings per discipline per segment (i.e., short program and free skate). Points are awarded for singles disciplines from 1 to 12, with the first place skater earning his/her country 12 points and the 12th place skater earning his/her team 1 point. For pairs and dance, points are awarded from 7 to 12, with the first place pair or team earning their country 12 points and the 6th place pair/team earning their country 7 points.

The United States has won three of the four World Team Trophy events, with Japan winning the fourth. The qualified countries have not made announcements for the composition of their teams yet. Stay on this page for updates as they are announced.
