2017 World Team Trophy free dance
There were doubters. There were skeptics. Kaitlyn Weaver/Andrew Poje's decision to reinvent themselves early in the season by adding Nikolai Morozov to their team was met with some question marks. And those question marks only got bigger during the season, as they were still getting used to a new environment and a different way of looking at ice dance.
And so after a strong fourth place finish at Worlds, it was even more fortunate that they ended up on the World Team Trophy squad for Canada. Because it was there where everything they had been working on this season seemed to come together in exactly the way they wanted to. In particular, their Aranjuez free dance had a freedom and flow to it that we haven't seen from them since their signature Je Suis Malade free dance five years ago. It was stunning.
