12. Kaetlyn Osmond CAN
2017 Worlds short program
Ever since she made her stunning debut in 2012 with her huge jumps and won her first two senior international competitions, including Skate Canada, Kaetlyn Osmond has been seen as Canada's next big hope in women's skating. But it took a few seasons of inconsistency, self-confidence issues, and injuries for her to realize her potential.
This short program at Worlds, where she eventually won the silver, was the perfect example of what Osmond is all about - incredibly technical ability and skating that stretches to every part of the rink. And it didn't hurt that this program was choreographically very much in her wheelhouse. The crowd got behind her more and more as the performance went on; it was thrilling to watch.
And really, now that she's finally had this breakthrough on the biggest stage in skating, an individual Olympic medal is very much possible for her. Let's hope the momentum continues.
