There was nothing easy about her Olympic season. 

After a stress fracture took her out of last season’s Worlds and then a foot injury took her out of full training until just before the Grand Prix series started, Satoko Miyahara’s Olympic chances, once looked to be all in her control, became a major challenge.

After a couple of inconsistent skates on the Grand Prix, she knew that she had to overdeliver at Japan Nationals to make the Olympic team. It was exactly what she did with this free skate - and that fist pump at the end showed you just how much that performance meant to her last season.
