Kaitlyn Weaver/Andrew Poje CAN
2018 Canadian Championships free dance
It was a move that many in the skating community thought would happen, though many probably thought it would’ve happened for Sochi four years ago.
Kaitlyn Weaver/Andrew Poje returned to their Je Suis Malade signature program for this Olympic season - six years after it took them to new heights as ice dancers.
Signature programs are hard to reinvent - they bring with them a lot of emotional baggage for the skaters themselves and for the fans alike. And so it was wise of Weaver/Poje to not rethink the program but instead to showcase their growth over the past six years with it.
It was at Canadians where it was done at its best this season - and perhaps at its best ever. Coming into the free dance after a major error in the short dance, they made this program all about redemption and poured their heart into the performance like never before.
You can't beat #TheOriginalMalade.
